Ray Mahoubi, M.D., believes that government should never define, limit or curtail an individual’s dream or goal. The pursuit of progress is one of the greatest freedoms Americans hold – one that his family never has taken for granted.

Born to Persian parents in mid-century Iran, Ray quickly was exposed to the consequences of a government wielding unchecked power. Forseeing persecution under radical Islamic leadership, Ray's father – a respected physician – made a courageous decision to move young Ray and family to America. His fears were realized when, shortly after the Islamic Revolution of 1979, their property was seized because the family was not Muslim. The elder Mahoubi had made the right decision to relocate his family to a safe, new country where his children could reach their fullest potential.

Growing up in rural Missouri, Ray quickly accomplished great things. As a star student, he mastered three languages (English, French and Farsi) and completed a medical degree by age 23. In his spare time, he explored writing and performing his own music – in a country where personal expression could be unbridled.

Dr. Ray Mahoubi has practiced internal medicine in Phoenix for more than a decade. He treats his patients with a unique empathy brought by his own experience with a chronic condition – muscular dystrophy.  He understands the importance of maintaining health and not letting physical limitations interrupt a goal.

Ray’s concerns about the growing size of government and the limitations of our current healthcare system – which stifle both patient, doctor, and business owner alike – have motivated him to enter Arizona politics as Republican candidate for State House, District 8. Ray seeks to elevate conservative principals in the community and give back to a state and country that have given him so much. 

"My father sacrificed his business and homeland so we could realize a safer life here in America," Ray says. "I want to help ensure that this state and country continues to be a place where everyone can acheive their dreams." 

“I knew when I was age 11 that I wanted to help people in a meaningful way,” he says. “As a doctor, you can help others individually and witness incredible transformations in their quality of life. Now, I also want to help the community on a broader scale by representing a conservative voice in our state government.”
